Goodbye Couchy-Slouchy Life!

We are all living in the Post This/Post That world. We must reframe this Good Ol’ Days way of living and thinking. Why can’t I live in the What Next Fabulous Thing is Coming life? Of course, Good Ol’ Days were good but they weren’t ALL good. Yet this Past Life POV persists all over Media.

“Dear Media, Please ban certain words and phrases from here on out: Pre-Pandemic, Post-Roe, etc.” Thanking you in advance.

I know recent past events have had me fall into living a Couchy-Slouchy Life. I know I’m not alone. I see you wearing house slippers at the Supermarket. Come on, we’ve got to cut that out!

What’s happened to socks and shoes and clothes that fit? Was it really so awful? See that entire notion is part of the Good Ol’ Days we yearn for. Yet myself and many others are not participating in the new Get Out Of the Doldrums era. We could if we wanted to. The question is, “Do we really want to?”

I propose there is a happy medium between these extremes. Now, if you know me at all, you know I live by one rule: I don’t tell any woman what to do. Not what to eat or what to wear. No opinion on whether your hair should be blonde, red, green, blue, or short or long. Maybe you are rocking a bald head. Goodie for you! I know what you are thinking, “I get it Diane but if you are not telling us what to think or eat or wear then what’s the point of this entire article? Why do you think I should continue reading your non-judgmental claptrap?”

Ok. That was a bit harsh so I’ll get to it. I’m throwing some notions out there. Into the wind of the Internet. You can grab a couple of notions or let them fly by.

Notion # 1: I personally want to have more fun. For me, that means non-chore things. Actions with no other purpose other than happiness. Could be laughter, could be Nature, could be music, an art show, what evs. This is my notion.

Notion # 2: If Diane Doesn’t want to live in the past, she needs to Make Future Plans. A lunch date with a gal pal. A play or concert, a day-trip outside of my apartment that involves things I enjoy. A massage, dancing, going to a Botanic Garden. I am allowed to leave my home, so I should do that.

Notion #3: A Slumber Party. It’s been stuck in my craw that inviting adult women for a sleepover would be extremely fun and entertaining. (It could or could not include playing board games like “Cards Against Humanity.” Fun! Or not, if it’s voted off.)

The thing is, we all need to reconvene. We are lonely.

We are uncertain for the first time in our lives and there is literally no reason for it! OMG. We are once again, being fed a narrative of lack. Of things a woman cannot achieve. But we all know that is a lie. So hello, bootstraps. I pull you up once again. And with the support of my awesome Sisters, we go forward.

We all go through major life transitions when relationships end… Through this website, I will share my thoughts as I walk the path of “New-Self” discovery. It doesn’t matter which side of 50 you are on. The real question is, Are you ready to live life? To forge a Path of Your Own Making (For a change!)? Then stop dwelling over the What-Might-Have-Beens and join me. Share your thoughts here, comment on mine, and let’s do this together! And check out my book, “Restarting Your Life When You Are. No Longer A Wife” I wrote it just for you!
