Intimacy Connections: The First Time With Someone New After Divorce

For some ladies, getting intimate with a new partner for the first time in decades can be delightful. For others, even the thought of this freaks them out. We are all very different in that regard. All feelings have merit, of course. The other newsflash is that we do not have to tell a living soul about what we do in that area. We are grown women out on our own after decades with one person.

Sometimes, it’s merely happenstance. We. meet and meld with a man at a social event and the spark is there. Excited about even feeling a spark after several spark-free years, we take the leap between the sheets.

I know of other women who are too intimidated to even consider being with another man. It freaks them out. Or, they’ve decided they don’t want to be in a relationship again. They’ve taken up traveling the world, or some other exciting experiences and are enjoying life in a way they’ve never dreamed of. But here they are, living their fantasies.

There are many ways to fill out a life.

Many women enjoy a healthy sex life but feel they may become too vulnerable getting into a sexual relationship. Others enjoy it for the orgasms. Or some combination of all of these.

I say from experience, you will know when you are ready.

Also, some emotions may come up during or after this encounter. My lover fell right to sleep. I rolled away from him and felt tears running down my cheeks. I don’t know why exactly. But if I had to venture a guess it was because this made the break-up a true reality.

I won’t ever be with that person again. Not that I wanted to at all. It merely was what it was. A transition. Like so many, we’ve all gone through after being left.

Life goes on. But life is also short.

I wanted to write this because I’ve never seen anyone write about this. Ever. I hope I’ve opened a window for you to have whatever thoughts come up for you, and to tell you, it’s going to be alright. Then it transitions to wonderful and becomes a non-issue. All part of the journey of womanhood.

We all go through major life transitions when relationships end… Through this website, I will share my thoughts as I walk the path of “New-Self” discovery. It doesn’t matter which side of 50 you are on. The real question is, Are you ready to live life? To forge a Path of Your Own Making (For a change!)? Then stop dwelling over the What-Might-Have-Beens and join me. Share your thoughts here, comment on mine, and let’s do this together! And check out my book, “Restarting Your Life When You Are. No Longer A Wife” I wrote it just for you!
