Peonies Show Us How To Bloom

It’s peony season, and peonies only grow once a year in the spring and so there is a general plethora of excitement when women know that it’s Peony Time. We love them. Their blooms last a really long time even when cut but if they are too tightly closed when you purchase them, they may not bloom at all. This is similar to those of us who have been Leftat50, and are still closed up from the hurt. Waiting to bloom. And they say one way to make a peony bloom is to put it in tepid water. That they like a little bit of warmth. Well, who doesn’t? A kiss, an embrace, even a kind word. These may be lacking from our lives, holding off our bloom. Mid-life late bloomers, is what we are!

TRUSTING MY INTUITION PAID OFF

This year, I wanted a rainbow of peonies in my life! I called Trader Joes. They said there were only pink peonies. Pink is fine and all, but in my mind, I kept seeing a plethora of color adorning my apartment. My intuition told me that they in fact had more than just pink peonies. That if I went there, if I didn’t take their word for it and just went there, there would be some colors other than pink. So I rushed over there, not wanting to miss out, and lo and behold, amongst the sea of pink peonies, there were, in fact, other-colored peonies!!! There were Ruby colored peonies, Lilac peonies, variegated Yellow and Lavender peonies! If I hadn’t gone over there, if I hadn’t trusted my intuition, I would’ve just believed what I was told. But because I took a chance and I listened to myself, my home is now adorned with several different colors of peonies.

This is a lesson for all us Leftat50’s because if you just think thoughts and don’t act on what your’e thinking, if you don’t trust your intuition, then you won’t have the experiences that you deserve to have. The experiences that you know are out there waiting for you! Finding colored peonies may just be a very small victory for my own intuition. But the payoff being the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes this morning were several huge peony blooms on my nightstand. And oh, what a wonderful thing to wake up to, because as they bloom, so does my soul. If you internet search for “prettiest flowers,” the first one that comes up is a peony. Isn’t that what we all deserve? First the peony blooms, than so do you! It’s the kindness you afford yourself. It’s the nourishment and the sunlight, that will open you up in ways you never could when you were stuck in the bad marriage. Thank God you got clipped from that drab bush.

We all go through major life transitions when relationships end… Through this website, I will share my thoughts as I walk the path of “New-Self” discovery.
