Been cheated on? Don’t “Mannequin Challenge” Your Life!

Everyone is doing the “Mannequin Challenge” these days. They even did it at the White House yesterday! This is, of course, all in good fun. Can you stand perfectly still while the world goes on around you? 😐This fun little notion got me to thinking about my reaction to being left the year I turned 50 by my partner of twenty-four years.

“The day he said goodbye, and for about a year afterwards, I felt like I had turned into a mannequin.”

It was difficult to figure out what I was supposed to do now. I felt frozen in place. Every life decision seemed enormous. As much as I wanted to get going with my new, separate, life, it took a lot out of me to force myself into action again.

When you are in the mannequin phase of a break-up, every little decision feels huge. Overwhelming.😩Your head tells you that maybe if you do nothing, things will magically go back to the way they were. If you are dealing with this, I suggest you give yourself a daily list of little things you can do to get going into your new, unknown life.

Because, ultimately, you know this is going to have to happen anyway. The longer you stay put, the longer you will be stuck in the Old Life. And that life no longer exists. In the real “Mannequin Challenge” that is trending, people only stay stock-still for a minute or so. But in our lives, my dear Leftat50’s, we must find the courage to get “unstuck,” lest we get too comfortable denying the facts, and reacting with fear.😰

If you were to look into the store window of your new life, what would you see? Would the Future You Mannequin have a smile and a new, exciting life beyond her wildest dreams? She would. You know she would. And you will too. So get going. The ending of the pain that has clogged your heart is setting you free. And believe it or not, you will be thankful for it.🙃

We all go through major life transitions when relationships end… Through this website, I will share my thoughts as I walk the path of “New-Self” discovery. It doesn’t matter which side of 50 you are on. The real question is, Are you ready to live life? To forge a Path of Your Own Making (For a change!)? Then stop dwelling over the What-Might-Have-Beens and join me. Share your thoughts here, comment on mine, and let’s do this together!
