Self Partnering is the New Self Care

Emma Watson has coined the term, “Self Partnering” as a way to describe her life as a single woman. She is an unmarried twenty-nine-year-old and as she approaches the Big Three-O, she wanted to let others know that she is doing just fine remaining single by choice.

This term is really a fantastic way for Leftat50’s to think of their own Singledom.

Being committed to oneself means advocating a lifestyle that brings you whatever experiences are important to you. It is empowering and does not at all imply that not being in a relationship means one is lonely, depressed or has a missing half of themselves. Whenever we weren’t in a committed relationship we would say “I’m looking for my Other Half.”

Feeling complete through choosing Self Partnering reframes the entire issue for women, no matter what their age. I’m going to start using this term myself. I just love it! Calling myself, “Single” implied that I was available and actively seeking a man to complete my life.

How wonderful that it can now be considered just the norm, a woman who is fulfilled living life on her terms with no negative implications.

We are not defective in some way when we decide we don’t want to be married. In fact, this situation makes us stronger and free-er than ever!

Self Partner yourself today and see if this is a shift in how you view your status. Not because it’s trendy, because it makes perfect sense! It’s time to reframe the way society views the status of women’s personal lives and stops defining them by it!

We all go through major life transitions when relationships end. Through this website, I will share my thoughts as I walk the path of “New-Self” discovery. It doesn’t matter which side of 50 you are on. The real question is, Are you ready to live life? To forge a Path of Your Own Making (For a change!)? Then stop dwelling over the What-Might-Have-Beens and join me. Share your thoughts here, comment on mine, and let’s do this together!
