As the world opens up we Leftat50s are once again heading out into a very changed world. When we were left, the natural urge after the panic subsided was to get back on the Main Path of life. The course we’d thought we’d be on at this age. The one that was majorly detoured when the relationship ended.
Initially, you were in shock and thought you’d hit a Dead End. But now you are yearning to get out there. Instead of going back to the Life of Chores on Main Street, what if you took a turn? Headed down a side road you’ve never ventured on?
I’m not saying sell the house and move to Tahiti (Unless that’s your dream.) Perhaps instead take a few minor departures from your daily drone of life. Job, Kids, Housework, Grocery Shopping, Bill Paying. You know the joys.
“Huh? A Departure from my rut? Whatever would I do, Diane?” you are thinking.
How about you fit in a mid-week. movie? God knows the theaters are still empty. You could spread out. How about dinner in a nearby town? A restaurant you’ve heard about but have never made the trip to. Or go really crazy and go to a concert at the last minute all by yourself! Pick one thing.
As this World-Opening-Up month unfolds, take a trip down a side road. A road a lot less traveled might lift your spirits.
Unmask your face and your life and go have some fun. You remember fun, right?
