While stocking up during this pandemic to make sure we have all we need for however long this may go on, I’m wondering if it’s also time to take stock of ourselves. Not over some long, unknown, haul the way we normally would, but on a daily basis.
What will this twenty-four-hours hold for us? How can we take action to improve our mental or physical circumstances? What positive choices will we make today? Perhaps not to contact negative people. To write ten things about ourselves that we love. To notice how great we look with no makeup on? Or will we get dressed to the nines just for ourselves? Say “hello” to that inappropriate dress in the back of our closet.
This pandemic has been a revelation for women our age. Many of us are the “doers” for family and friends.
Given the opportunity to spend time with ourselves, many are deciding to do this more often. Constantly, “choring” for people is very draining.
We didn’t realize this until we stopped. And it took a worldwide pandemic for us to do so!
But it’s not enough. We deserve to praise ourselves.
What if, alone in the comfort of our homes, we each gave ourselves the equivalent of a daily, standing ovation? If we stood up and proclaimed something wonderful about ourselves to ourselves?
Would that be something that carries us through the day?
And as we venture out as the pandemic wanes, wouldn’t this practice also be beneficial to how we walk the world? Think about it. Give yourself a hand. You deserve it. I now give you permission to talk to yourself. (“Stock up” on those compliments!)
