Crafty Women Vs. Crafty Men: Broken Vows Cannot Be Repurposed

I am terrible at crafts.  One woman’s pleasure is another’s glue-covered fingertip frustration! Anything involving yarn is a nightmare of my lack of patience wrapped in a skein. I don’t look at scraps of material and start planning a quilt in my head. The pieces of the china teacup I just dropped will never adorn a plain clay flower pot. They go in the garbage, where broken glass belongs.

Just like a broken relationship.

For awhile, I thought those shattered shards of 24 years could transform into a different kind of union with the Ex.   Like a flea market find, I could cleverly repurpose shattered vows into a sustainable relationship !

It would almost be the Ultimate Upcycle!  I have never made a bigger error. He’d already swept those memories up and tossed them. They were rotting in our Relationship Landfill.

Seems he was “crafty” in his own way…And I don’t mean turning a mason jar into an herb garden!

When a woman talks about yarn, she is discussing acrylic vs wool.  A man’s yarn is a straight lie about why he was two hours late coming home from work and his face looks flushed even though it’s cold out.

Repurposing is the rage these days. Turning old buttons into wreaths! But the seasons of our life change.  We cannot stop them.  How lucky we are for that!

Today as I sit in my sunny apartment, next to my sweet, devoted, pup, I realize that I have crafted a life for myself that might not be other women’s idea of perfect. The overnight oats will have to wait.

We all go through major life transitions when relationships end… Through this website, I will share my thoughts as I walk the path of “New-Self” discovery. It doesn’t matter which side of 50 you are on. The real question is, Are you ready to live life? To forge a Path of Your Own Making (For a change!)? Then stop dwelling over the What-Might-Have-Beens and join me. Share your thoughts here, comment on mine, and let’s do this together!
