Learn to Lean

When a relationship ends, there are a million chords that have to be cut. And I don’t mean just the emotional ones. There are the conversations with the lawyer, the tons of life-together items that you don’t know what to do with. But, like so much of what is on your plate right now, it just needs to be dealt with. The undoing. All the undoing. It’s more than you think. So if you can, get help. A relative or close friend. You don’t have to be Superwoman. Especially with the avalanche of details that is your current reality. Let someone else shred the old documents you no longer need. By all means, get someone to pack up all the “couple” photos and albums. You have no idea what to do with wedding albums and stuff. But that’s okay. Just don’t do this alone. Your friends love you. So lean on them. Learn to lean. They want to help. You are not inconveniencing them. Trust me. It’s all part of it. Leaning is how you ultimately learn to stand alone. When you are ready. But not now. Not now when you are still crying over some silly sad song in the grocery store. (I know. I sobbed with my head in the freezer of the frozen food aisle. I think it was a Lionel Richie song that set me off. It was a low point. 🙂 Give yourself more time. The day of Stronger You is coming. Just not during this painful transition. The one you didn’t ask for. It’s okay. You’re allowed some time to recover with the help of those closest to you who support you. Leaning now will make you stronger later because it will all get done. And when that happens, there’s the path ahead you get to start on with not so much as a backpack to weigh you down on your journey to the New You!

We all go through major life transitions when relationships end… Through this website, I will share my thoughts as I walk the path of “New-Self” discovery. It doesn’t matter which side of 50 you are on. The real question is, Are you ready to live life? To forge a Path of Your Own Making (For a change!)? Then stop dwelling over the What-Might-Have-Beens and join me. Share your thoughts here, comment on mine, and let’s do this together!
