Jumping In To Your New Life

Remember all of that caregiving that you gave to your ex, all that mental energy to fulfill his needs and make him happy? Well, guess what? It will now be expended on yourself. And even though this is SO easier said than done, it is important for you to practice doing this now. Your world has been upended. This is the time to learn how to treat yourself with kindness. And in doing that, guess what happens? You empower yourself. At first, this is difficult to just jump in and start doing. You’ve been left and you’re heartbroken. You’re probably not going to wake up tomorrow and scream, “I’m empowered!” But it is very important to get started. There is a new you blossoming now. The seed might still be in the dirt, but all beautiful things that grow start there. So get a new haircut maybe. Or upgrade your wardrobe. The time to donate the Mom Jeans is now :). You got left, it sucks, I know. But you have to become determined to focus on the positives of this. You don’t have to go and put orange henna streaks in your hair. (Unless you want to!) And maybe you will sob in the car the way I did after my first shopping trip “Just for the New Me”, but that’s okay. Let. It. Out. When you let those painful feelings out, you leave room for the New Feelings. You have no idea what those new feelings are going to be right now. But you can be sure as heck that your Future Feelings WON’T be the ones you are feeling now. When you let those sad, painful feelings out, they won’t be inside you, clogging up what could be a wonderful way of thinking about the new life you are building. Isn’t that SO much better than the sad life you had? And even though it’s scary, isn’t it just a Teensy Bit exciting? Do yourself a favor. Just glance in the mirror. Practice smiling at the new happier you that you are now presenting to yourself and the world. So what if half of it’s an act? How can you become a new, confident person if you don’t practice? We are undoing perhaps decades of being Down On Yourself here. There are new adventures coming to you now. So take your vitamins, and get some rest, cause guess what sister? You’re jumping into your new life!

We all go through major life transitions when relationships end… Through this website, I will share my thoughts as I walk the path of “New-Self” discovery. It doesn’t matter which side of 50 you are on. The real question is, Are you ready to live life? To forge a Path of Your Own Making (For a change!)? Then stop dwelling over the What-Might-Have-Beens and join me. Share your thoughts here, comment on mine, and let’s do this together!
