Amy Schumer’s Got It Right – LUV Urself!

Amy Schumer’s got it right.  She’s been all over the media lately proclaiming her philosophy on self acceptance and living a joyful life because of it.

“You’re not going to be what everybody loves, but you have to love yourself.”  “The skin I’m in right now, I’m going to embrace and love it.”   “The moments that make life worth living are when things are at there worst and you find a way to laugh.”  And my favorite, “I say if I’m beautiful.  I say if I’m strong.  You will not determine my story – I will.”

It thrills me that the media is enthusiastically covering her messages.  How wonderful to have a spokeswoman for empowerment front and center for once!  Instead of the constant barrage of negativity that all women are exposed to in all forms of media.  Wrinkle creams and body shapers and hair dyes and cellulite treatments and face injections and eye brow shaping and makeup tips and lip plumpers.   And WE can add being left by our significant other to the list as well.

My goodness!  No wonder we are walking bundles of low self esteem!  We need to turn this off in whatever ways we can.  Amazingly, I didn’t realize the sheer volume of all of these negative self esteem media campaigns  until I starting hearing what she was saying.  And once I started looking for it, I realized it was everywhere!  Every commercial!  Every woman’s magazine!  It seems like we are being told that everything we do, say, or wear MUST be improved in some way!  None of it is good enough!

Sometimes it just takes one woman to raise awareness of a women’s issue for all of us to realize it.  Amy has raised several.  And she does it with grace and humor.  Lets all take a page from her playbook and embrace it:  “You’re not going to be what everybody loves, but you have to love yourself.”

Go Amy!

We all go through major life transitions when relationships end… Through this website, I will share my thoughts as I walk the path of “New-Self” discovery. It doesn’t matter which side of 50 you are on. The real question is, Are you ready to live life? To forge a Path of Your Own Making (For a change!)?
