The “Comfort Zone” Trap

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” – Neale Donald Walsch

When you’ve been Leftat50, and your entire world has been rocked, it’s very easy, after the dust has settled, to want to stay in kind of a safe, little web.  You know what I mean.  You find yourself preferring to stay in instead of going out.  (Even though you are now free to go anywhere you want!)  It  A) Seems like a lot of work, and B) You have no idea where to go, and C) You finally got your place the way YOU like it and just want to stay in it…all the time. D) And a million other reasons you can all fill in on your own.

But as this quote so eloquently points out, that is not really living your life.  Living your life means venturing out into the world again.  You did not live through and survive all of this heartache to stay in your house.  And by the way, staying in your house is also staying in YOUR HEAD.  Maybe not the best place to be all the time.

I am suggesting that you head out into the world.  In some way that is New and Exciting for you.  The Grocery Store, The Library, Church, Your Sister’s House…etc…these don’t count!

It’s time.  You know this.  It’s time to find a way to feel at ease out in the world, amongst new people.  Open your social circle any way you can.  You are awesome and people will like you.  Heck, they will find you fascinating!  And You need to experience this!  I know because I was stuck in my “comfort zone” for a long time.  And I can tell you, I did not start truly building My New Life until I stepped outside of it.

I urge you to get started on this.  It is important for us Leftat50s to put ourselves out there.  Because, I promise, the feedback you get from New Acquaintances will give you a Newfound Confidence!  And you will realize that Life really does begin at the end of your Comfort Zone!!!  Get started!!!

We all go through major life transitions when relationships end… Through this website, I will share my thoughts as I walk the path of “New-Self” discovery. It doesn’t matter which side of 50 you are on. The real question is, Are you ready to live life? To forge a Path of Your Own Making (For a change!)? Then stop dwelling over the What-Might-Have-Beens and join me. Share your thoughts here, comment on mine, and let’s do this together!
