When A Heart Breaks It Don’t Break Even

“They say bad things happen for a reason. But no wise words gonna stop the bleeding, “Cause he’s moved on while I’m still grieving. And when a heart breaks no it don’t breakeven…” the Script.

Many times on this journey through “The Split,” we wonder why our Exes move on and we find ourselves dwelling in a heart-home that has been demolished. We continue walking through that rubble, not quite believing the horrific storm of betrayal that left no sign our relationship ever existed.

“What am I gonna do when the best part of me was always you and what am I supposed to say when I’m all choked up and you’re OK.”

These lyrics gently encapsulate the conundrum often felt when the wrecking ball hits and we realize he is off reveling in each brand new “you-less” day.

In contrast, you walk the world with the endless “what happened to us?” song droning in your head.

Time to change the station.

Physically it may seem like there has been a fundamental change in how you feel every day. Yes, for a long time afterwards it seems that a chunk of your heart is missing. The caring for him and him caring for you chamber. An endless beat that has stopped. But slowly, you’ll start to feel the realness of your new heartbeat, and it will be stronger than it ever was. Perhaps two hearts are not always better than one!

“Oh you got ‘her’ heart and my heart and none of the pain. You took your suitcase, I took the blame, Now I’m trying make sense of what little remains…”

Of course there really is no “sense” to make of it. It’s time to cut the endless loop and continue flipping through our New-Heart Owners Manuel. And that is an incredibly empowering thing!! Do you know that the heart is divided into two sides. And they are referred to as the “right” and the “left?” Of course they are!

Your old, unevenly broken “left” heart truly has survived a bypass! Do you feel a lightness? A clarity? Feel like you can finally take a deep breath? Take one right now. I remember how empowered I was when I realized my heart repaired itself! How the heck did that happen? When we were standing in that rubble, it seemed like an impossibility! But, in spite of our uneven hearts, we refused to stop moving forward. Through many lonely nights and emptiness and tears. Lots of tears.

Are you still in the tear phase?

Look inside yourself and listen to what your new heart is beating for. Stethoscope yourself and hear what you want the most in your life.

Your heart has been there, through all of this, waiting to tell you in her own special language. The Language of the Heart.

Then open your mouth and speak, or sing, or laugh your truth. Start to feel ecstatic!

Because it’s time to realize that the best part of you is you!

We all go through major life transitions when relationships end… Through this website, I will share my thoughts as I walk the path of “New-Self” discovery. It doesn’t matter which side of 50 you are on. The real question is, Are you ready to live life? To forge a Path of Your Own Making (For a change!)? Then stop dwelling over the What-Might-Have-Beens and join me. Share your thoughts here, comment on mine, and let’s do this together!
